The Art of Kambo:

"Kambo circulates in the heart. Our shaman said that when we take kambo it makes the heart move more accurately, so that things flow, bringing good things to the person. It is as if there was a cloud on the person, preventing the good things to come; then, when they take the kambo, a 'green light' comes which opens the ways, making things easier." -"Kambo, the Spirit of the Shaman". by Professor Gomes

The Art of Kambo is about holding a sacred space for an individual without interfering, judging, or trying to control their healing process. The Kambo practitioner respects the intelligence of the frog ally to do it's work in alignment with the clients personal needs. The practitioner trusts that the client and the spirit of the Kambo will form their own relationship, and knows that this relationship will continue its healing work long after the client leaves the ceremony. Kambo is a powerful ally who must be met with sincerity. For this reason, IAKP Kambo practitioners are held to the highest standard of personal integrity, spiritual and emotional maturity, and personal health throughout their training. It is of the utmost importance that the practitioner maintain their dedication to these principals in order to carry and serve the Kambo tradition.

We will begin with a brief phone consultation to determine if Kambo is suitable for you.  If so, we will determine a time and date. All payments are due on the day of ceremony before the ceremony commences.  Payments can be made via PayPal or cash.  No one turned away for lack of funds, if you are feeling called to work with this ally, please email me and we can work something out.

Next, we will have an opening prayer of gratitude and intention for the ceremony, purifying the space and each other with white sage and palo santo.  Meeting the spirit of the frog with an open heart and an attitude of gratitude can create a transformational space and  communion for extraordinary shifts to occur.  This is why there is a saying, "We  must be willing to meet the frog half-way."

Kambo  is traditionally applied through the body's largest organ, and first  layer of defense: the skin.  The epidermal layer is gently burned,  giving way to a small opening or 'gate' as we call them.  The Kambo  secretion is mixed while the client is encouraged to drink a prescribed  amount of water.  Within minutes, the secretion is carried into the  lymphatic system and circulates throughout the body.  Some experience  this sensation as a warm, green fire or an energetic scanning of sorts.

Typically, there is an initial flushing to the skin, heat in the body,  elevated heart-rate and lowered blood pressure.  Some experience a knot in their stomach, nausea, fainting or dizziness. Other side effects may include vomiting, diarrhea, or a strong emotional reaction as the Kambo cleanses and purifies. These reactions are all normal and part and parcel of the potent Kambo experience.  The secretion is typically left on for 20-40 minutes while the medicine goes about its work removing blockages on the physical, mental, and emotional levels.

Undertaking a Kambo ceremony can be an intense experience and may not be everyone's cup of tea. It is, after all, a warrior's initiation. Sometimes, one may feel relaxed, fatigued, or even energized and in an activated bliss state afterwards.  It is of vital importance to allow  rest time and integration space following a session (10-12 hours). This is why I typically (but not always) suggest morning sessions with my clients.

There is some scientific evidence to suggest that multiple sessions of Kambo  in a short amount of time are effective in treating depression,  addiction, and other maladies although I am by no means able to make such claims.

Scientists have found that Kambo contains a highly unique and complex cocktail  of bioactive peptides.   More information about the science of Kambo  can be found here:

Kambo’s  cleansing  effects begin within minutes of administration, and it  leaves some individuals feeling less pain and more clarity in the days  and weeks afterwards.  As with all things, a healthy life-stye, positive  attitude, mindfulness, proper nutrition, healthy hydration, restorative  rest etc; can affect your experience of integration in the weeks and  months to come following your session.   Kambo is not a cure-all, or the  proverbial golden cap at the top of the pyramid.  It is a beautiful  ally ready to meet you half way and perhaps provide some insight into  your extraordinary life and the unlimited potential of your wonderful,  fantastic Self, if you will allow.
